SUBICWATER JOINS THE MAYOR's PATUBIG SA BAYAN

Subicwater teamed up with the City Government of Olongapo in putting up various water kiosks in areas with no access to clean and safe water. Known as “Patubig sa Bayan”, the project was initiated by the City Mayor in order to provide these communities with potable drinking water. These communities are mostly situated in remote and highly elevated areas where water pressure is not enough to support any pipe expansion projects.

The “Patubig sa Bayan” project is patterned after the “Patubig ni GMA” project (Pres. GMA’s Water Project) in Manila. The City Government installed the water tanks and has organized the communities. Subicwater, on the other hand, is in charge of metering, disinfecting, and refilling the tanks. The community organization sells water to its members and later on pays the monthly bill to Subicwater.

The project was piloted in a remote area in Barangay Barretto where two 300-gallon water tanks were installed. An organized neighborhood association manages the water kiosks and water is drawn solely for drinking.

A total of 20 water tanks were purchased for this project and this will benefit more than 4,000 people in the City.
